Green Design

Whether it’s a new construction project or an existing building, HMT and Associates can help our clients identify opportunities, formulate strategies, and implement Green Design initiatives into your project to help maximize energy savings and minimize your environmental footprint. Whether it’s ecological restoration, water resource management, LEED Certification, or decreasing building energy costs, HMT and Associates’ LEED Accredited Professionals can provide the necessary experience and skill required for your project.

Energy Efficiency

Reducing energy costs is essential to any new construction project or existing building in today’s industry. A primary goal of Green Design is to reduce energy costs for new and existing projects. This can be accomplished through the implementation of energy efficient building systems and sustainable site measures. HMT & Associate’s engineers have the necessary experience to ensure your project is completed with the utmost energy savings at a reasonable construction cost.

Stormwater

Stormwater runoff, if left untreated, becomes susceptible to collecting debris and various substances that in turn discharges directly to streams and rivers thus becoming a leading polluter. In addition to the treatment of stormwater runoff, the rate of discharge must be controlled to limit the threat of downstream flooding. The utilization of stormwater treatment systems such as detention facilities, engineered wetlands, and rain gardens, help regulate both quantity and quality of runoff discharged to our streams. HMT engineers are well versed in best management practices, permits, and regulations involved with the handling of stormwater runoff for all construction projects.

LEED Certification

n order to meet the design requirements by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification level of certified, our designers incorporate a number of sustainable design features in each project, including:

  • Sustainable sites
  • Water efficiency
  • Energy and atmosphere
  • Material and resource management
  • Indoor environmental quality
  • Innovation and design processes

Brownfield Redevelopment

Brownfields are abandoned or vacant commercial or industrial sites that are available for redevelopment that consist of a certain degree of contamination. HMT and Associates can assist in the planning, permitting, and design of such projects.

Planning

HMT and Associates can provide master planning services while implementing various green design initiatives in anticipation of LEED Certification. Our engineers and planners have experience in commercial, residential, and mixed-use master planning developments.
